Dispiriting and pointless

This is not a real post, but when you are as lazy as I clearly am, you have to shout about whatever tiny content you manage to generate….. so anyway I wrote an article about shopping in Birmingham on a funny site. It will have limited appeal if you’re not familiar with Birmingham. Actually it will probably have limited appeal even if you are. Here it is.

I believe this is Catherine O’Flynn’s blog, though I cannot see your name anywhere. I want to tell you that today I finished reading What was Lost. I live in Queensland, in Australia, and the book was in our library. I really enjoyed the story and how you pieced the mystery altogether. The local lingo over there that is your ‘voice’ in the book was a bit distracting to an Aussie (eg ‘He was sat..” rather than “He sat…) but that’s not a negative at all, just pulled me up a bit when I read it. I enjoyed the story, but particularly how you had the reader know your characters so well and how they interlinked throughout the story. We are all interlinked. Little Kate was a child alone in the world who could not understand why other kids her age could not do things for themselves. She’d had to grow up fast, but she didn’t survive unfortunately. I hope this is not a true story. I believe the shopping centre is true…but it is unbelievably huge. In my village, I walk to the shops which are one street from my home and I avoid these major shopping centres where I cannot see the daylight. All the best with your writing which I hope will continue with the same success as What was Lost. Congratulations. Jill Marley.
